This article will describe aspect of flashing Motorola P2k Phones under windows using Motorola PST software. This way will work for the following phones: v300 V500 V600 V550 V80 E398... you just need to use appropriate Flash/Flex files.

What you will get:
- faster menu,
- any newer Flash in most cases better then older, definitely there some bugs are fixed.
- if you did something wrong with your phone eg: delete important system files, screwed SEEM or Flex. reflashing will recover your phone
- but Flashing will newer unlock your phone!!

Note
All your personal data, like wallpapers, numbers, ring tones, messages will be deleted when you flexing or installing monster pack, so before doing something - PLEASE, backup everything, write down phone numbers or important messages, or use one of the available programs to do backup. One more thing, you should remember, warranty will be voided too! But there is a tricks to return warranty ;)

Newest monsterpack, contains flex, lang pack - TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.72R with Flex SE6424AXXT11D4_1FF

Lets Start . ::top

Important
Please, don't connect your phone until you finished installing PST software!!!

* Installing PST -
While installing you could see following message:

Just Ignore it .
Everything else should go smooth.

* restart PC:

* apply patch to PST -

just copy PST_uni_patch.exe in "C:\Program Files\Motorola\PST\"
then run it.

Main window of patch software :

Just pressing Next patch all files. Original files will be copied and will have extension *.bak

* connect phone using USB data cable to your PC -
Immediately Windows will detect your phone and will ask for drivers.

Select "Install from a list or specific location" , press Next

Select checkbox "Include this location in the search", press Next

New window will appear, warning us about driver, this one is not certified by Microsoft, we just laughing :)... press Continue Anyway

Copying of required files....

Hurray, drivers are installed!

To double check, we can go to Computer Management, select Devise Manager and there we shoul see new device - Motorola USB Modem

Important
Please turn off all security and PIN codes you have in your phone before flashing or doing any other Firmware operation!

We should run multiflashflex.exe ???? from c:\Program Files\motorola\pst
After couple second Windows start installing new devices, this devices are important for PST.

When system ask you about drivers just point it to the same place like in the first time: "C:\Program Files\Motorola\PST\"

When you will look at list of installed devices you will see some Motorola specific.

After all that done, and multiflashflex.exe started, at the bottom of the window you will see Motorola Phone with status Connected. That mean phone is ready for flashing.
Next you should select flash file, which will be dumped into phone (flashed). Flash files have extension shx. Just for illustration we will flash today stable firmware G_0B.09.4FR for Motorola V300.
First of all we need to select TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.4FR_reflash.shx using Browse button. Selected flash file name will appear at Flash File Name filed. We need to check selected check box at Preferences, "Override existing phone software even if it is newer then the superfile software".

To Begin Flashing lets press Start button .

First of all PST will switch cellphone to flash mode.

Device Manager window we will see that new device appear - Motorola Flash Interface

If you need to switch your phone to Flas mode manually just do following:
- turn off the phone.
- press simultaneously *, # and power button
Phone will switch to flash mode and same Motorola Flash Interface should appear in Device Manager window.

Flashing mode started:

First of all PST will check you phone.

If somethings happened at this stage, like phone disconnected accidentally or just shutdown, don't panic, it is not a problem at this stage, just disconnect it, do power off-power on and connect again to PC:

If everything is OK, PST will create Image File :

After Image wile created PST will erase all flash memory, at this stage connection and powering of the phone is extremely critical:

Everything goes smooth and nice!

Flashing of Lang Pack . ::top

Lets Flash new Lang Pack, on this case will flash 002E which has Russian and Ukrainian languages .

Lets do same operation like with Firmware . Using Browse select TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.4FR_lang002E_reflash.shx, after that process identical to the described above.

Message about erasing current Lang Pack and flashing new one.

Successes!

Now you have newest Lang Pack ;)

Troubleshooting. ::top

If while flashing you hone was off or disconnected and when you turn if on phone doesn't work and has following symptoms:

- screen if flashing
- PC cannot recognize your phone

Then, you :

1. Turn it Off, then press *, # and Power to have black or white screen

2. If 1st doesn't work, then do following::

put you phone socket towards you

To manually switch it to flash mode you need to you a piece of wire and short circuit contact number 4 and five, see picture above, after that PC should recognize your phone.

Keep In mind, everything you will do it is absolutely your responsibility, I will be not responsible if you will break your phone, lost warranty, have electric shock or broken PC!!!

Flex - contains a number of files (ringtones, wallpapers, system files) ans SEEMs
Flash - software of the phone, contains BIOS, bootloader, OS
Seem - tale of setting of the phone
Lang pack - contains localization of phone interface
Monster pack - contains Flash, Flex, Lang Pack. Monster Pack could be used to recover phone in certain situation or totally reflash everything in one time.
